Maybe it is simply a case of more people encroaching on wilderness and grassy areas, but lately there have been a lot or dangerous rattlesnakes popping up amidst our valuable
San Clemente real estate.
And while humans getting bitten by snakes is pretty bad, it may cost you up to $7,500 just to save your dog's life if it's bitten by a rattler. That's what it cost Sandrea and Barry Silverman when their dog was bitten in their front yard at Forster Ranch.
What with the vet bills and costs for vials of anti-venom at $800 a pop, plus an overnight in a dog emergency hospital and a blood transfusion...Yikes!
So be very careful. When walking through a wild or grown up area, be sure to walk with a walking stick and keep your pets close to you on a short leash.
